The LAW: Agreements

To recap…“The Law” is slightly different from “the laws” in my novel the Weave of Realms, but they are both vital to the Weave, the allegorical understanding of reality that holds both heaven and earth together.

The LAW

In my novel, I’ve given names to certain aspects of Law. Here I’ll place them in a loose order of importance. I’ll spend this post and others to break them down further.

  1. The Law of Sowing and Reaping (see that post https://www.jillcott.com/blog/the-law-sowing-and-reaping )

  2. The Law of Full Disclosure

  3. The Law of Agreements

  4. The Law of Authority

  5. The Law of Reciprocation

These, I believe are LAW because if the Creator were to break one these, He would no longer be Good and the Loom itself would be sundered. Let’s look at these a little closer at the next Law.

The Law of Full Disclosure

While this Law cannot be broken by the Creator, it’s seems like anyone else can quite easily.

By not giving ALL the information, all the risk, all the possible likely outcomes, (perhaps another reason Math is valued so highly) it seems like people break this Law ALL the time. We lie, we tell “white lies”, we deceive and we are deceived. Likewise, we know to break this law comes with major consequences (Reaping and Sowing), some of which include: guilt, fear, distance, pain, worry and more damage. Breaking this law holds us accountable to judgement, incurring wrath not only in our minds, bodies and relationships but also in our spirits. There seems to be a remedy to it’s breaking as well: honesty, humility, confession and forgiveness.

Can the Creator (God) break this Law? Can Spiritual Beings?

It seems that character has a huge role to play in this but even more, it seems the degree of knowledge one has determines the degree if guilt one has in breaking this law. Let me say that again, and louder.

It seems the degree of knowledge one has determines the degree if guilt one has in breaking this law.

Let’s explore this. If a company sells a drug that heals leaky gut without knowing of a particular side effect and someone dies of that side effect after taking that drug, the company is still guilty of wrong done, but not that of deception rather that of a lack of due diligence. The company can pull the product or add a disclosure of the risk it carries, a risk they are now aware of. If however, they know the risk (the deadly side effect) and don’t disclose it, they will be guilty of deception along with whatever happens to those who take their drug. This kind of wrong done is evil, cosmically wrong, knowingly and approvingly deceiving in order to gain from another’s loss.

Liability

This is a law that employs lawyers to ensure full disclosure is upheld to mitigate liability, saying something like this, “this drug may have unknown side effects that may cause death or serious injury -take at your own risk.” This disclosure protects the seller/producer from being liable to this law. Furthermore language that says, “please consult your doctor,” goes further to pass the liability out of their hands into the hands of your doctor, making them responsible for disclosing to you the full benefit or risk involved with using their drug.

The Bible talks about this liability in the Mosaic Law regarding dangerous animals for one. Someone, whose bull kills another person from aggression, isn’t guilty of murder if they had no idea the bull would or could do such harm, as it had never been disposed to such behavior before. If however, the owner knew it to be a dangerous bull and it causes harm or death, they are liable of guilt up to death! Liability is linked to knowledge.

Full Disclosure… One is responsible for what they know. One should be responsible for what they should know as well.

God always gives Full Disclosure, telling you up front the hinge upon which life and death, curse or blessing, hangs upon. If you do this, then this will happen. IF you fail to do this, then this will happen. He leaves nothing unsaid and no one without fair disclosure. Humans suffer when we disregard the disclosures of God, and honestly, the common sense or intuition he’s given us, doing the opposite of what we know we should do. Humans suffer when we listen to the voice of another.

So, how do Spiritual Beings, creatures of vast knowledge and understanding, effectively deceive the world without breaking this particular law?

I believe if the “rulers and principalities” violate Cosmic Law they are on grounds for removal from their seats of authority. Perhaps there are ways, tactics they use, to skirt violation but still achieving their nefarious aims. Let’s look at the most notorious example of a spiritual being deceiving someone in the Bible, skirting the law without breaking it in the Genesis 3 story of the Serpent in the Garden.

  1. Asking Questions. In this scenario the Serpent asks a question to Eve, “has God said you shall not eat from any tree of the garden?” Questions are not statements. Questions open the door for thought and ideas without inserting fact of any kind. Questions can cause doubt as much as they cause curiosity.

  2. Deception through Loopholes. In this story, the Serpent dialogues with Eve, which is important to note. Eve was not the one whom God spoke to concerning the rules, Adam was. Eve may not have even been there. For all we know Adam relayed the instructions to Eve. The scripture does not tell us if God told Eve directly or if the instructions were meant for her and Adam or just Adam. There’s ambiguity. The serpent says to Eve, “You surely will not die.” And maybe she wouldn’t have died, if the instruction was for Adam after all. The point is the Serpent intended to reach Adam through Eve. This was a twisted truth statement. Eve’s bite wouldn’t enact death but Adam’s would. Her giving to Him was the step that launched him over the cliff. Or perhaps that’s all rubbish and the twisted deception was that the serpent meant they wouldn’t die instantly, on the spot. Ignoring the truth that that bite would get them expelled from the Garden where they would eventually die. Loophole.

  3. Statements of Authority that peak interest. “You’ll be like God…” and “For God knows…” statements are a flex of knowledge on the Serpents part and a temptation fill a desire or solve a problem. Dangling a carrot before the prey.

With Loopholes, Spiritual Beings can deceive the world through suggestion and temptation. They lay out the risks and rewards, but make the risks pale in comparison to the rewards. They uphold full disclosure but through enticement, particularly tailored enticements, they shift your focus from the risk to your desire and its satisfaction, making you the liable party.

Consider the adage “sell your soul to the devil.” You know the cost but you believe it’s a fair price for the return. Things may even turn out badly. You got what you asked for but with ramifications you didn’t foresee but even in this you are guilty, for you knew who you were dealing with in the first place, the devil. You, as an autonomous being assessed the risks and rewards and made an informed choice. Your desire exceeded you discipline…your digression…your perception of danger? You knew better and you deceived yourself at some point in the temptation, that’s the Loophole.

More to come!
